Hello AIO Peeps!
Welcome back to our fashion blog. Today our topic is "more elaborate" costumes as our first blog was "embellishing the plain dress".
If you are willing to design & construct your own costume or hire a specialized dress maker, the creativity is limitless. Our example here from Calgary, AB, Canada, is Jill Druery wearing a custom dress executed by Lynda Jones.
Jill's music was Havana by Camelia Cabrera. Seeing her dress, I read her visions as wanting to set a mood of night glamour, therefore a dark moody blue color fabric, in sequin.....the burst of silver from her hip, would read to me as city night lights, or perhaps fireworks of festivity....the rose at her hip side suggests strong fem dancer intensity, or perhaps like a tattoo, reflections of past romance memorabilia....the fringe skirt reflects swaying movement of a dancer out in a Havana eve, or perhaps a sign of the swiftly moving night hours.
......SO, as you can realize, a well crafted dress/costume congers visual poetry! Enables the viewers to be swept along with the story of the performance. It enhances your choreography and music sounds.
A good plan is to write out "your story" of your program, then choose fabric colors & textures.
Enjoy making your costume "Swing"!
thank you for your viewing Peeps.
